Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa | Yesterday wife gets a text picture of one big box and one small box from Sam's Club, except it isn't our front porch, it is someone else's. Then she gets a phone call from some nice 35 year old guy home visiting his parents, whose house is out in the goat hills, 2.5 miles north of town, at the end of a quarter mile dead end gravel road. He says we have your packages, Fed Ex just dropped them off. I drive out there, nice guy, throw packages in car, no harm, no foul. Bring them home, unpack the big one but leave the smaller one unopenned in the house.
I was just leaving house when Fed Ex van pulls up, so i immediately turn around, walk into the house, while the driver is obviously sorting thru the van looking for our packages. I stick the small package in her window as she is backing out of the driveway, and ask "Looking for this?"
She asks "Where did you get that?". I said "Exactly where you left it, 2 and a half miles north of here in the middle of nowhere". She made some mumbling excuse about stickers while she backed out of the driveway and pulled away.
I find it interesting, she must of had a manifest of some kind, telling her to stop at our house.
Just for kicks, I called the nice 35 year old guy back and told him the rest of the story, and he replied "Yea, this ought to be interesting, Dad is expecting a box of golf balls today from Fed Ex." |
