Subject: poly liners combine and heads

the poly liners that are sold to put under head auger troughs and the auger troughs under the concaves in CIH legacy combines are they a permanent repair or a patch to get by until you get another combine/head ?

looking at my 1020 table, 1083 corn head and 2200 seperator hr 2388 all are showing some wear.
at this stage in my farming career I believe I can go through the heads and combine over the next few years and have them probably last for my farming days. I am probably the last to farm in the generational lineage so to purchase a newer, more capacity doesnt look like it would be wise

my concern is moisture getting trapped under the poly and rusting the metal trough out below the poly. or creating high spots that catch the auger and tear out the poly.

since i will basically be "there" when i rebuild the equipment is it a better, more reliable smarter fix to replace the metal with metal ?

i am thinking if poly was so wonderful wouldnt this be OEM?

just trying to gather my options I see poly on dealers lot and just wonder if the previous owner went that route as they knew they were going to be replacing the unit but needed just a few more years.
