Paxton, IL
I'll preface this by saying I'm not a huge fan of vertical tillage in general. I think there's definitely a place for it, but it doesn't fit my needs here.

My dealer brought me a 330 to try out when they first came out. I ran it across some corn stalks in the fall and left some strips untouched to compare. I really liked the job it did handling the stalks, but it didn't make much of an impact on the winter annuals. It basically just leaned them over and threw some dirt on them, but the plant and roots were still intact. Maybe I wasn't running it deep enough, but the end result seemed logical to me based on the design of the tool.

The 330 apparently made a really nice seed bed though. When spring rolled around, the areas I tilled were all just a thick blanket of weeds. The untouched stalks in between tillage passes had very minimal weed pressure.

All in all I think they're a great tool for sizing and mixing crop residue, and opening up soil to help it dry and prep for a seedbed in the spring. They're far from ideal for taking out weeds or moving enough dirt to level rough ground.
