| I used to haul grain local for an off farm job. I charged 150 an hour. Made an okay living. 60k loads. Then Covid hit and that was the end of that. My rates slowly dropped to 100 an hour and I said that’s enough. I haven’t hauled a single load since. Iv heard now some of the local guys still hanging on are running under 60 an hour. All to make 500 dollars for 9 hour day and spend 250 in fuel before insurance or repairs. Why!?!?!? I know the dryland guys HATE the hour charge and want it by mile or bushel. But those bushel rates get cheap in a hurry.
I’d love to do it again but it needs to be a 2 way street. I can’t do it for beer money. | |
