Since all you need is a simple pump, not all of the bells and whistles, maybe consider capping off all the inlets and outlets right at the pump except for one inlet, one outlet, and one gauge. It won't eliminate the need to keep it above freezing, but it might reduce the risk of serious damage if it did happen (power failure, etc.) You could put in a drain valve with easier access (like others said, they are usually at the bottom of the pump panel, but not on yours.)
Our climate is similar to yours, and my department keeps the engines indoors at a minimum of 40 degrees. Works for us. | |
