Dust causes wear, which causes loss of balance, which causes vibration, which destroys everything. Crary will tell you to check the fan yearly and replace it once the tail ends get sharp. Vibration can ruin gearbox bearings, which is much more money than a fan. They make a high wear fan from steel. Normal fan is aluminum.
