Coles County, Illinois | My Dail-a-matic got progressively goofier until all it would do is raise the head to the shutoff position. Found mice had eaten the insulation off the wires where it goes over the feederhouse. All six wires had about 18" eaten off. I have a 915F and had enough extra wire on the left side to pull it to the right side to get at bad spot. With a 25' head you might have to disconnect the right side and pull to the left.
I went ahead and spliced in 24" but I probably could have just cut out the bad stuff. Be sure and stagger any splices to keep from creating a bulge. You'll need to pull that back thru the feederhouse tunnel. I soldered and shrink tubed the connections. I do have Marine Grade butt connectors that are crimped then you heat shrink the ends to create a water proof and really strong connection but I'm good with solder so I went that way.
