Subject: Batch dryer

I upgraded to a Farm fans C2122A double burner portable dryer from a Farm fans 270 (single burner). I am running it in batch mode in which I am cooking both top and bottom sections for 18 minutes then it will continue cooking until the internal temperature reaches my setpoint temperature, then I’m cooling the entire dryer for 18 minutes, then I’m unloading while leaving the blower fans on (burners off). I currently have the top and bottom Plenum temps set at 204°. This was a reference point from the 270 dryer which had relatively consistent output moisture readings. When discharging on this new dryer, for the first several minutes I will take moisture samples and the corn is 3 to 4 points wetter than my target moisture. During the middle of the unload cycle, the moisture is right on target, and the final few minutes it is over dried but the average is close to my target. Should I be content with the average knowing I have wet and over dried corn in each batch, or should I be modifying the two plenum temps so the bottom is hotter and the top with a lower temperature so it’s not so over dry for the final minutes? There is little reference available for batch mode. I’m drying corn w inlet moisture of 20-22% w an outlet target of 15.5%. Is anyone else running a similar dryer in batch mode that can give any insight on their times and temps? Thanks for any input.
