| Locally, we are so much a mile per bushel. The real rub is the load, wait and unload time, as well traffic and routing. Would like to see 30 minute limit on both loading and unloading times, realizing the need to be flexible. The big question is who pays for delays, and how do you enforce it? Scheduling doesn't work on either side? Imagine a trucker being told the have to be there to load with-in a 30 minute window. Driver need to deal with traffic, and food and fuel stops.
Hourly is so hard to track and verify. Who pays for the variables already mentioned, as well as a line at elevators, terminals, or processor.
Visit with someone who deals with rail or barges?
Ever showed up at a place and be told we are full, or broken down, come back in a day or two? Who pays for that. Who pays for a rejected load? Have local processor that rejects loads when full, bring it back later and goes right thru. | |
