Last 5 years. corn hauled by #1 Elevator trucks 25 loaded miles. $140 to $150 Á load. *why I decided it was not worth buying Á semi*. 6” auger under bin floor. But I filled +500 bu in my grain cart. So they get under 8” 31’ emd auger. I start, then I hop on cart tractor. Fill other side rear hopper, rest in front. Park cart. Chat 2 minutes. “Shut it down”.
But I bought a semi/trailer. Thing is I am hauling mill #2 is38 loaded miles. Getting at least $.10 more per bushel. OFTEN +$.15.
It’s not as nice Á place to unload. 1 scale, not strait in, each unloading area slightly different, only once a worker to signal where I should stop. Each pit you need to learn your landmarks. Also pits very slow.
But I can deal with turn to scale, but slow unloading. The drive does not have bad turns. Yes trip home has left turns. But I am empty so I clear much faster.
Rather friendly. I grab my RFID card, open window my name already up.
I hear trucks charging $.25 bu to haul just under 50 miles for neighbor. #3 elevator. I asked him why? Today prices closest for a while #1 $3.75. #2 $3.92 and #3 $3.88.
Note I have never hauled to #3. It’s further, online map shows a few not super easy turns. As less per bu. Why consider it?

In hindsight. #1 should have hauled for $20. $.17 Á bu less. That’s close to $170. *their trucks cut down, daycab, lite so +1000 bu*
I hauled a load of soybeans for a cousin as wedding gift. It took forever as he loaded gravity boxes first. So my truck sat in his field 2 nights for one load. My fault. I should have made clear. “Fill trailer so I can leave before 6pm to make 7pm closing time tonight”
