And lots of truckers have been 'abused' over the years by bushel rates too when the farmer has them hauling out of the bin in the back corner they have to back under and load with a 6" auger and dump at the elevator that takes 30 minutes per truck to unload, hence the hourly charge........



It’s up to the trucker to adjust his rates to stop the abuse. Truckers around here do it. I know one guy when he got started in the business, he was getting calls to empty bin bottoms. Farmers would haul out themselves until the bin quit running. So then he started charging $300 per bottom plus the bushels. That practice ended quickly. My cousin gets some of his durum hauled by a local grain hauler. He chargers my cousin 5 cents less then others because he doesn’t have step inside the bin to clean out and the bins have 10” unload and then a belt conveyor for fast loading.
