Friend of mine is looking at an AGCO-Allis 6690 tractor for use on an auger. Are they any good, what about parts availability? Is the air cooled engine going to workout running an auger? Thanks.
Probably one of the best auger tractors out there...unless there is an oil leak for the crap to stick to, everything in the air near and auger will blow right on through that engine.
We sold a ton of those, transmissions and rear ends are very reliable as long as you don't cowboy the shifters, then I have seen them break a shift fork...but pretty rare.
Parts availability has been no problem between AGCO Parts, and going to the SLH/Deutz Fahr dealers, but things do have to come out of Germany on occasion.
The only issues we really ever have with them are electrical issues, don't plan on much working without having to work on the wiring unless it's a later model with the GM style fuse panel
