I have a cattle working facility that I can't keep clean with a power washer. Not enough volume of water to move the "dirt" far enough. So I bought a firetruck. I have a 30,000 gallon vertical tank I can feed it with.

Questions:

1. How do I winterize it? Run a drum of RV antifreeze through it?

2. Has anyone used one to run a irrigation pivot? My son claims the pressure and flow are right.

3. It came with suction and discharge hoses but no nozzle. Where can I get one? Do they make adapters to go from camlock to screw on?

1. Good luck on winterizing. There are so many nook's and crannies, not to mention all the dead-end lines to gauges, pressure valves, etc. Only way to be sure would be to disconnect every line and fitting, blow everything out, let it sit open for a week, and then dump a few barrels of RV into it and run everything back into the tank. After all of this, I still wouldn't want one sitting outside all winter. Our department bought a firetruck from Maryland. They supposedly winterized it. It was only on the truck for about 8 hours at -5F. We had to replace every single gauge, half of the valves, some of the plumbing, and rebuild the pump drive/transfer case because we drove it 50 miles with the cooler burst and full of antifreeze.

2. I would believe you could run a pivot for a little while, few hours at the very most. No way would it do it reliably for more than 8 hours or so, unless you have a 1500 gpm pump and are only looking for 5-700 gpm, and then I still would be nervous of it cooling.

3. Talk to your local fire department. They can get you anything you need, if willing. Be prepared to throw up in your mouth when you get the bill.
