Were those tractors built by Fiat?
Had the same thing happen to my Fiat 100-90 way back when.
Oil slowly leaked from the rear end into the gearbox. I dealt with it the easy low-cost way by moving exces oil from the gearbox back to the rear end maybe once every 2 years.
