North East Kansas | Hi, I have posted here several times about this issue in the past, and I finally figured out what is going on. I would guess that everyone who suddenly had issues with the acre counting ever since software version 2022 is probably having the same issue. I happened to just notice something while looking into this issue one more time. I happened to check my speed charts and noticed that after I installed version 2022, that my speed would glitch out a lot, and suddenly say 10 mph in 12 foot patches even though I was only going in the 6 mph range. I am assuming that is why my acres counting is way off, and Im guessing this might have a lot to do with my motors getting low voltage at times when planting soybeans. I never change my speed and I always travel somewhere between 6.3-6.7 mph. Since the planter thinks im traveling at 10 mph for 12 foot increments all over the field Im assuming this is upping my acres. I actually felt like this could be software related long ago, but the precision planting tech support said it wasn't possible. They actually blamed my seed sensors since they weren't all wave vision. They said it was because they were showing that sometimes I had seed drop when turning around on end rows which would count more acres. I thought that sounded ludicrous because what kind of software would count acres that were already planted and the planter was picked up and in the off position.
After seeing this I am a little annoyed that in 1-1/2 years time that precision planting tech support couldn't pick up on this issue even after sending them a bunch of fields from before and after this problem happened. Back in 2024, I had this feeling that it was all software related so I put my software back to version 2019.1.7 for 1 field, and I noticed that my acres were correct again. I initially changed the software back to 2019.1.7 because when I was originally on that software back from 2019-2021 the acres were correct, and I never had issues with planter flipping when I backed into corners and then pulled forward to plant. When I installed version 2019 software in 2024 for a single field it solved the acre issue, but didn't solve the planter flipping issue which never happened until version 2022 software, Precision planting tech support told me to change back to the newer software because they wouldn't help me unless I was running the newest. My acre issues came back immediately and I can see that the speed issue happened immediately after updating to the newest software again.
I actually had some issues when I went from 2019 to version 2024 software. The computer froze several times and my dealer walked me through how to get it to finally boot up. Does anyone know if I would have any major issues flipping back to 2019.1.7 software from the current version 2024 that I have installed. I wish I would have never updated in the first place to 2022, but my dealer convinced me to do it at the time even though the planter was functioning perfectly at the time. I really want this fixed, but don't want to fry my monitor or processor trying to go backwards in software. As a side note, I was happy with the 2019 software, and thought precision had the best setup ever invented. The only thing that changed at the same time as the software was that I replaced my radar, but the acre counter and speed worked great on that 2019 software with this new radar for that single field that I had the old software intalled. I do wonder if the radar could be connected to the planter flipping issue though. It feels like version 2022 was developed by different engineers.
