the point you make is a good one.... but at least in the greater Central IL area.... just leasing a tractor or combine is not often provided as an option...
the last time dad and his brother leased a combine, they were responsible for all wear and tear, damages, etc.... no just paying a flat fee and walking away
I don't blame dealers for moving away from that model because of how machines got returned...
