Subject: RE: Massey 8600 / 8700 tractor question

Been seeing a few around, met one on the road with triples and started wondering how well do they handle bigger equipment. Around here 24 row planters and 1100+ bushel carts are becoming more the norm. Some guys pulling 7 shank rippers. I haven’t seen any Massey pulling this stuff in the field yet as Deere dominates around here. Any experience with a Massey and equipment this size? We are flat to hills here. Thanks for any info

Have a handful pulling 24 row planters, depending on how fast you want to drive would dictate how much power you need.

As far as a grain cart, most are on 1100 bu carts, but have a few on 1300 bu carts too, we are about the same terrain as you I'd bet. No issues.

Ripper, again, depends on power and speed you want to run, and weights on the tractor, but 5-7 shank would be a good match depending on how tight your dirt is, how fast you want to run, etc.

Only sold a couple hundred of those units since 2008, haven't found much they won't do honestly. Have had guys pull 48' field cultivators with them if they just want to run 2-3" deep, 40' Turbo-Maxx's, various sizes of high speed discs and chisels, etc. Lots of grain carts, planters also.

You know, they will do the same things as a different color if you size them right.
