East of Broken Bow | Our locally family owned dealer got bought out by a mega dealer, and one of the first things they did was clean out all the 'spare' parts they had. Things like axle extension kits for combines, dual hubs, stuff like that. They had me go around back near the scrap pit on the way to the warehouse, and I asked what ws going on. The parts guy (who was there for like 20 years) just shook his head and said that the new owners decided they are not going to keep any parts for 'old' equipment on hand anymore, especially used parts. Scored a set of drive axles and couplers for my combine out of the pit as they were right on the edge where I could grab them. But seriously, throwing away dual hubs and the like, to the scrapper?
Keep in mind, the average farmer here is under 500 acres, the people that buy brand new combines I can think of you can count on one hand. The people I can think of that still run something like a 4020 on a regular basis - not sure, but I'd say well over half. | |
