I have thought about hiring a former dealer tech as well. The really good ones that make the dealers money are not cheap but likely worth it. Here it takes well into 6 figures U.S. after benefits to hire a mechanic with experience that is self starting. Cheap when he would be doing mechanic work, very expensive if he is sitting in line somewhere to dump a semi at a soybean plant.
