Fuses can be good, but still have issues with wiring. We had a similar problem with the display being dead for long periods, then all of a sudden would appear back on. Found that if we shook the wiring behind the seat, it would turn on. I believe we found one of the fuse terminals had gone bad, so instead of pulling the whole fuse block apart, we pulled the wires off and wired in an inline fuse.
