| We have a 2388 combine with a 8 row Drago Series 1 cornhead with Kile rotor flights, Kile rasp bars, Kile concave in 1 and 2, Case Ih large wire concave with every other wire pulled in 3. Also have a Gordon airjet chaffer. Have keystock grates and 4 straight bars over the grates. Rotor speed has varied from 300 to 350 rpm. Concave is set at 3.2-3.6. It appears that 50% or more of the cobs are whole and all of the corn is off the cob. Yield is 200-240bpa. moisture is 18-22%. Combine is going at 2.9-3.1 mph. running 1,400-1750 bu/hour. Still getting .25-.75 bpa corn loss from the rotor.
Is there anythimg that could be done to reduce rotor loss? It is not bad but wondering how to do better. Is that just the nature of that combine? Thanks, Jim |
