Subject: RE: Ag Leader Implement Switch

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
The above reply about using an Ag Leader Application Rate Module is correct. The Application rate Module plugs into your Ag Leader CAN connector with a CAN tee and a terminator. It does not require any other high current power connection since it is not capable of doing any "work" in the sense of controlling valves or clutches. When connected properly, the Module should become recognized by the system and the LED on the module should flash green. The module should be listed in the diagnostics and strangely it is sometimes referred to as "Proto Converter".

In your case, a configuration would be created which would include information about your situation such as the measurements involved and whether the implement switch will be "normal" or "reversed". This means that the implement switch can be mounted so it completes the circuit when the implement is UP or when it is DOWN. Depending on the situation sometimes one mounting arrangement is more desirable than the other. You choose "Normal" or "Reversed" depending on which gives the correct action.

Once you create and use the configuration, the painting will be based on the position of the implement switch and will not be an indication of the auto steer status. You do not need to change anything about your auto steer setup.

The Application Rate Module can be used with a flow meter or shaft sensor also if that is desired. With this arrangement, a meter cal is involved so the system can indicate the applied rate and make an appropriate map of the application. This would not apply to you for this situation but might be useful in the future.

I use one on my planter with a flow meter to monitor but not control my starter fertilizer. We use another on a hog manure rig where it is connected to a Mag meter to monitor the rate of application.

The Application Rate Module can also be used with a serial cable to connect to other devices such as a Raven 440. In that situation, the two devices communicate back/forth between themselves. This allows the Raven to control the application while the Ag Leader creates an applied map.

The Application Rate Module can be used with the majority of Ag Leader displays such as the Insight, Integra and InCommands. The very newest "GO" displays curiously do not support it.
