Roll and roll and roll and all of a sudden you went from option to -.45 basis and futures haven't moved. Doesn't always happen like that but it sure can. Basis contracts are generally a short term option for me. I did some on basis during harvest because they were offering an exceptional basis with the intent of pricing it before roll date.
