So what’s more likely? That market makers knew Qualcomm would release this news today and have been doing some form of hedging between ups and qualcom for awhileeeeee now in anticipation?

Or that market makers knew these swaps were coming due and went to qualcom and said “look if you got any big news, wait until October 27th to drop it so the pump looks legit”?
