Put the victim card down a while, Aug report is mostly based on farmer surveys. So you’re telling me farmers are terrible at guessing their own yields? Read much on here and that is believable for sure. Use some common sense, a lot of things change after Aug 1 it’s why things get adjusted later, just like every farmers yield expectations change right up until harvest. Could it be done away with? Sure but traders are going to trade numbers, do you want to have a rough idea what they are thinking? The market will adjust based on what they think actual numbers are anyway.
Yes, a lot of things can happen between July/August and harvest, which is why it’s both irresponsible and unprofessional to print a yield number that’s nearly 10 bushels higher than the previous record. |
