NE Nebraska | Your right DCH. Packer will find a way to divide and conker. Start by buying imported cattle at a lesser market then claim they are about full so feeders puke the best USA cattle at a lower market that could have been if all stood together. Packer will pass on extra costs of labeling and segregation to producers. Slower chain speed and lost harvest capacity because of having to segregate carcasses verses running wide open throttle at 100% efficiency.
I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings but I've got a bad feeling this USA labeling is really gonna backfire on USA producers. Consumer almost always goes for the cheapest no matter where it comes from and I'm afraid beef at the meat counter is gonna be no different. Fact is cattle herd is shrinking worldwide so really no reason to be afraid of imports as there really not out there in other countries either. Why would they not have lost grassland to crop land like here in the states? Fact is they've probably lost more grassland than we have. So I ask again where are these increased numbers gonna come from on worldwide level when the grass went to crop land? | |
