| So as I understand it, in the past imported beef could (and did) become "Product of USA" by simply being repackaged when it came on shore. This was admitted to by USDA employees in hearings a few years ago. So it means imported beef still comes in unlabeled but can't make the claims previously allowed. We still need MCOOL, now more than ever. I think that is some of the reason some producers are mad at Trump. If you want more imports at least let the consumers decide if they want to buy American raised beef. | |
