Does the newly released USDA Beef Industry Plan call for Mandatory Country of Origin labeling? Copied and pasted from the paper;
Label Integrity: Starting Jan. 1, 2026, FSIS will enforce “Product of USA” claims only for meat from animals born, raised and slaughtered domestically, closing long-criticized loopholes.
Are they mandating COOL or just making sure voluntary labeling is accurate?
Did USDA just affirm MCOOL?
