East of Broken Bow | As someone who raises cattle, when I hear that the government is planning to lower the cost of beef, I intend to cash in by selling my heifers now, while they are still worth $2000 a head, and not feed them for another year hoping they wean a $900 calf. With all the talk of pushing prices down in the future, why would the cattlemen not all do similar?
As to the attitude of knocking down the bragging cowboy a notch, think about it this way:
Let's say corn is $6 and beans are $15. How would you feel if the government made a public statement saying that prices were too high, and they were going to do everything they could to get corn back to $4 and beans back to $9, which is pretty much what is happening to the cattlemen. | |
