Focus people. We are 2 days into "helping" a young person try to forumlate a discussion, and nobody has asked what type of equipment is being used to access whether the equipment is being used effectively during the daylight hours. So, Ndfarmer26, what are we looking at for harvest equipment, grain handling, trucking, and acres per hour in ideal conditions? Many of us have used multiple brands of harvesting equipment, so we know many brands full capacity.

We run a 2014 8230 case and 2023 8250 case also. 40ft heads. We pull a 1000 bu kinze grain cart with a 90’s John Deere 4755 tractor and run two trucks. I typically run combine and my cousin who helps in harvest either runs the combine or truck. My mom also runs a combine or truck and my dad runs the grain. Cart. One of our headers is down at the moment so we are only running one combine. One thing I have been trying to get my dad to do more is dump the combines on the go. He used to do that but I’ve never understood why we quit doing that. I understand if you have a lot of hills and washouts you can’t. I’m not even sure on acres per hour. In dry conditions I’m running between 5-6.6 mph. We also farm 60 miles from our home farm and that’s where a majority of our acres are and I’m ok stopping right at dark there being we have a hour drive home. We have rain for the next 2-3 days now so I’m hoping late Saturday we can cut our last field if not hopefully this Sunday.
