| Figure out what you need to install and work backwards to figure out what equipment you need. If you need to install 12" mains 6' deep your needs will be different than if you can get by running 6-8" mains at shallower depths like we can. For us a Gold Digger pull type works great 99% of the time, I know of four other Gold Diggers within 10 miles and zero other brands of tractor plows. In that same distance I think there are four wheel machines and maybe one self propelled plow.
A smooth face backhoe bucket makes digging starts much faster and you can never have too much inventory of fittings, if you need two for a job get six, amazing how often not having a $10 fitting in the field with you can stall progress or you grab the fitting the next morning to find the start hole has caved in or filled with water over night. | |
