Redwood Falls, MN
We have 4 similar designed AGCO combines,: Gleaner A65, Challenger 660, Massey 9795 and Massey 9545. The newer style Massey machines like you reference are better than the older styles as they have the perforated cascade pan or an adjustable sieve there to help remove threshed grains straight down to the clean grain auger and not run it on the chaffer at all. This helps a lot with putting less grain on the sieves that doesn't need to be. The newer (MF9540/9545) also are open on the back of the shaker pan to allow light material to blow out the back under the rotor where the older models have it sealed up and it all has to go onto the chaffer. Like Bob mentioned, the older ones do not like leaning left and will leave a trail of grain coming off the chaffer if you're leaning left. My Challenger 660 has some dividers on the chaffer to keep material on it longer and it certainly helps on the hills. I'll take some pics of it tomorrow. Overall, we really like the machines and the simplicity of how they are designed with low maintenance, fast unload speed and great accessibility for servicing.
