Cen Ks | Ag Talk recently gave me the puzzle piece I was looking for.
As equipment gets increasingly complex & computerized, big brand "technicians" needed laptops & scan tools to diagnose electrical issues. Thanks to Ag Talk the STO can do a lot of trouble shooting on his own.
My ancient 925F header height & lateral tilt quit working. I went looking on Ag Talk for information. I found a schematic of the wiring harness posted many years ago. Because of that picture, I discovered the problem. Buried deep in the harness under a layer of epoxy& heat shrink is a itty-bitty 2800 ohm resistor. After a thorough continuity check of every wire in the harness(12v batt & test light!) I concluded that was the problem.
It took a few hours of patience, perseverance & a $3.00 resistor = PROBLEM FIXED!
I could have hired a $200/hr JD tech.
He may have figured it out, or suggested a complete new wiring harness for $$$.
Thanks again to Ag Talk!
