E ND | Baum Hydraulics website has an easy calculator for hydraulic cylinder force. Need to know cylinder bore, rod diameter and pressure. Basically pressure x surface are of cylinder on the push and same less rod diameter on the pull.
That's a big cylinder but I think you're right - higher pressure modern tractor could get by with a smaller cylinder and yes would be faster. Newer farm style scrapers like that would use a 4-5" push off cylinder but would be a longer stroke than 36". Kind of hard to tell from your pics how big that scraper is but a 36" deep pan wouldn't be real big these days. | |
