The trade-off is you might not get quite as good of a shatter between the shanks but it will be good enough for what you are looking to do.
Not sure I agree with this statement. Please explain.
I think the shatter would have more to do with the point style (straight vs winged), or spacing (24" vs 30"), than the orientation (inline vs vee").
