Hello, I do indeed feel your pain...The maytag I mention is uniquely better than the average high effiency machines out there... And of course, made by whirlpool... But overall, we have few selections of washers to choose from anymore. Take the cheap Amana entry for whirlpool...is it just as good as a speed queen? or better? Happy Wash Day, CF
