| Davpal hit the nail on the head.
I don’t get the level of entitlement anymore. It would be like me saying I couldn’t start a construction business from scratch pouring freeways. Huh, maybe need to start on a driveway or two and build up the business over time?
Why does a young guy need 160 of perfect ground to start farming? Start with renting the junk no one else wants/can’t fit their s680 or x9 into. Also don’t need $120k in combine and truck when starting out. 7720/8820 and a c60 for under $20k all day long. Young guys have sweat equity advantage to older ones. Wrenching on equipment and going all night during corn harvest is how you make land payments starting out. If not willing to sacrifice as mentioned in a couple posts above, maybe buying a farm isn’t the best life choice for that individual. | |
