Company called Glentel had them available 20yrs ago. At the time they were the cheapest communications across NA. Winter oilfield (north) and marine applications all used it. Knew a bunch of long distance truckers that had them. Zero roaming charges.

Doesn't Musk build a mini portable Starlink system. I'd consider going that route instead and use it around the farm as well

Friends in the oilpatch told me a normal person can't use a satellite phone. The delay is too long, and it messes you up unless you know how to handle it.
