I think some of you are giving bad advice, we are at historically high prices this is not the time to hold all your heifers and breed them to see which stick, NOW is the time to take some money from the table in the from of a calf check from the bottom of your "class" of heifers, if you want to screw around and keep them all, the time to do that is when the price tanks. IMO


You are absolutely correct. I just made a similar post above. Ranchers like consistency, they like recipes. But if you really want to make gains, you have to be aware of when the market is high and low. And you do not hold animals when the market is high as we are right. How many Ranchers wish they could go back to 2014 and sell all of those replacement instead of retaining them until The rug was pulled out from underneath their feet in 2015?


Ranchers can’t get ahead because Ranch don’t want to change.

They do what they’ve always done so they get what they’ve always got
