| In my experience the heifers that take early on are the best. I don’t even check mine now. I have a bunch of 18-19 month olds calving right now. I just go tag the calves if if I find them young enough to catch.
Once your a couple generations into letting Mother Nature take care of the problems you won’t have any anymore. At this point I just expect they are all bred and will calve on their own. Try and check them once a week like the cows. I don’t have any high power genetics, but do buy good bulls locally only. The guys buying registered stock can keep their issues and bragging rights. | |
