I think you will be unhappy with the job your old cultivators will do. You need something with a lot of weight and clearance for trash flow. There are a few in our area, most of the guys that are doing any furrow irrigating have ones you can look at for ideas.

If it's the farm I think you're talking about then the guys up north would have more experience with dirt that is similar.

I am wanting to do the same thing, especially on my heavier pivot ground. Year in and year out MoCorn & firebird have the best looking corn around doing what you're thinking of doing. One thing you need to consider is that you need to have all your drainage work done first before you build any ridges.
