Fruita CO | Back in the 80's there was a big fire in Grand Junction, it destroyed the newspaper building & the old flour mill across the street. The 2 big concrete elevators were condemned by the fire dept., and "had to be taken down"... a crane came in & whaled away at one of them with a wrecking ball for about 2 weeks, finally got it all knocked down. They gave up & decided the other one was OK to stay up...it's still standing, converted into a bungee jump facility. That got a lot less popular after a girl died when her harness failed... | |
