E.Central MN | I used to buy soymeal from an old feed mill near here. Sometimes they'd just fill each gunny sack, sit it on a scale, write down the weight on a scrap piece of paper, then add up the weights in the office. Other times they would load a wheeled cart that had a balance scale built into it. They'd dump the feed cart into a floor opening where it was augered up to the mixer tank. Then they could fill the bags, and tip them onto a belt conveyor that carried them outside to the pickup box. Those mechanical scales didn't look like they'd be hard to keep certified, the shop my brother works at has one just like it that he uses for shipping weights. | |
