Subject: RE: Justify a Grain Leg

Ludington/Manistee MI area

We run a wet leg and a Lowery dump pit I’m thrilled with it.   Yes the bigger pits are nice but the huge set forward is the leg itself.   The dump pit was used I bet we don’t have $6000 into it.  Remember augers aren’t free either they have a cost.  We set our wet bin up so it can feed the leg and use that to load trucks occasionally.  To make a fair comparison you really need to separate out the cost of the overhead not saying it’s bad but it’s a separate upgrade beyond the pit and leg.  We unload trucks at 3 bin sites one has the Lowery and the leg the others we use an auger and jump auger the pit saves more time than you think way more.  I HOPE I have another 30 years ahead of me I’m strongly considering adding a leg to a second site.
