Subject: john deere 503 mower


what can you say about a John Deere 503 rotary mower? Good machine? Fairly heavy duty? See one advertised looks nice in pics paint looks good. Asking $475.....Be a steal if it's mechanically as good as it looks? Will be used mainly for mowing pasture/around buildings on a 4020.

Statesville, NC		Even if you find a bigger one, the 03 series is the light duty grass cutter. 06 series is medium and 09 is heavy. First digit is feet of width.

Have a 603 bought it new in 1989 just use it for mowing around buildings and a few waterways. Never had any problems with it just sharpen the blades.
