Putting up a post frame building for storage. Thinking a dark gray on bottom 4 feet and roof and off-white for the rest. Will it show bugs, dirt etc? Will have a tree row 40 feet away but not right next to it. Keep in mind I live in a wasteland where the wind blows relentlessly.

I have 4 white sheds with brown doors. 20 years old. 1 is 40 years. White shows no fading. Brown has faded some but can't really see it tell you hold up a peace of good against it.
My wife picked white because of the fading issue.

Have a shop that is two tone. Bottom 1/4 is red and top 3/4 and roof is white. Well off white.

Almost 10 years and no complaints.

I think with dark gray bottom and roof, the lighter gray sides makes a perfect match. We have too many years of red/white buidings to deviate now. I would not put a white roof on another building or if we paint........not sure what ......maybe gray. White gets a black dirt on it that easily shows up .

You have more wind, but otherwise lots of eastern Washington has you beat for being a dry, dusty wasteland. Our shop is white, and if I was putting up another building it would be white too. The good thing about it is when the sun fades it, it’s still white.

Most of the turquoise, tan and diariea brown of the 80's sheds makes me wonder what some of the current colors will look like in 40 years

Have a green roof and white sides now for about 25 years, still looks good. Reflex's light.

The winery is red and brown on the bottom and roof. Makes for a rich color.

If you got wind I wouldn't worry about what I am going to say but I like a darker color on roof so the snow melts off better. Lost my old pole shed one winter it had 2 feet of heavy snow on it when I was gone one winter. Have another shed with a colored roof and that has never had snow but it is also outside of my trees so the wind blows the snow off most of the time

This one is dark gray/bright white. I originally didn't want the gloss white thinking it would be annoyingly shiny for the first couple years and was going to chose bone white or eggshell or something. For some reason though I changed my mind and ended up going with bright white and I do like it.

Lighter colors or white show the dirt less than other colors.

White and clay here, clay is kind of a brown tan. I like looks of brighter colors but never know what they will look like in 20 years. I think colored roofs look alittle better

Ludington/Manistee MI area

3 red and white pole buildings and 1 white and red.  Only complaint with white siding is the guy who built it drill all holes for the screws at once with the tin in a stack.  The white has minor rust stains from the shavings when he drilled.  Being white it’s more noticeable.

White shed and brown roof. The roof shows dirt worse than the walls of it hasn't rained for a while. Same with the maroon roof on my house.

Does anyone do galvanized tin anymore? We have an old hog barn where the part with a white roof eventually lost the paint on the crease of every ridge but the galvanized is still perfect 35 years later

Our brown sheds with white roofs have faded and also paint on roofs is getting bad. But they were put up in the 1970s and 80s. Hog barn roofs are white and really showing dirt with the years, just replaced the roof on one built in 1995 and top 4 foot on a few more sites.

Shed at a different site went with off white with black trim. I think the black trim really dresses it up, grey would look good too. Havent noticed bugs or dirt on it but no livestock there. Looks good still at 15 years old.

Just adding some pics with explanation. I like the look of sheds with the bottom 4 foot a different color. That said the carpenter in me sees 2 more seams for water penetration and additional expense in install. I do think a must for any shed with wood bumper boards is to wrap boards with fiberglass at least a foot into the ground. This will protect boards from rot and make it hard for animals to dig under.

Off white shed with black trim, fiberglass. 15 years old.

Brown shed built in 1977. Side door taken on in 1995. As you can see it’s hard to match faded colored steel. Installed fiberglass wrap in 2015. It was a lot of work to dig around shed to install but cleans up look and protects wood.

Hog barn showing the dirt on white roof. Top 4 foot replaced 2 years ago and cleaner currently.
