Would like to convert a nice old aluminum trailer we have to hub pilot rims before we put new tires on it. From the picture, is there some kind of adapter available that would bolt on to the five inner bolts? The number 14018B is on the Dayton spoke. Central ND | No, you would need to get all your bearing numbers and go to a truck/trailer shop/salvage yard and see if they can match it up, you may get lucky and just be able to switch out your hubs.We had a couple we wanted to switch and I gave up, we just bought open center 22.5 rims and went that way, we don't put that many miles on and at least we have common tires now. northeastern Ohio | The 5 inner bolts hold the brake drum onto the Dayton hub. To change it, you would need to remove the oil cover, remove the big nuts holding the bearings, pull off, and then find a hub pilot to fit. I have no idea if there is such a conversion. The conversions I've seen require removing the entire axle assembly and welding a newer assembly to the trailer.

Thanks, not the answer I was hoping for but what I kind of figured. I'll just run it this way. I've thought of making it a water tender trailer so it's not like it's going to be going cross country. Tires hold air, just old so we'll just see how it goes.

Northeast Nebraska | I swapped a trailer over. Only regret is not doing it sooner. Cost about $1000/axle for new hubs, bearings, races, studs, lug nuts, brake shoes, drums, wheels and labor to swap tires. I did the swap myself. The hubs come pre-assembled with the races and studs installed. Edited by dewgubbe 1/24/2018 11:54

NE KS | https://www.anythingtruck.com/product/421-HT818RD.html This is what I used. You need to pull a wheel off and check your bearing numbers to see if this hub will work. I got all new bearings, brake drums, s cams, adjusters, and pads. I also found a deal on 4 aluminum rims and then used 4 steel on the inside, I spent more than what I paid for the trailer but it sure is nice.

central mich | We have changed about 20 axles. About 6 years ago we paid $50 for hub, drum (virtually all the used drums we got were good, bearings for $50 a corner. Last ones we bought last fall were $100 with drum and $75 without. We paid $100 for rim and some pretty good rubber. And we got some pretty clean rims for Michigan. Find a truck and trailer scrap yard. They will have some as hub pilots are becoming common in scrap yard.

This might be the way to go, but the brakes are in really good shape on it the way it is. I suppose going this route you have to get new drums/cams/shoes etc. so it will work with the new hubs?
