s.e. Pa | I have a 3208 in a new holland combine. It loses prime and will not start without bleeding the pump. I would suspect a lift pump, but am not sure if this engine has one? There is something bolted on the back left of the motor that the fuel lines pass through, but it doesn't look much like a pump. I thought trucks used suction to get the fuel to the injector pump, but my manual says I should have 30 psi, which makes me wonder if this is a pump? I am going to tee in a gauge tomorrow and find out. Thanks for any help, Josh

east central NE. | Put a good electric fuel pump on it. The seals in the pump are probably passing a little air pass them , but will not leak out the fuel with a little pressure. I did this on one and it solved the problem.

Winkler, Manitoba Canada | I had a TR96 with a similar problem and the solution in that case was a new glass water separator cartridge.

Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80 | First, change all your fuel filters. 3208s don't like restrictive fuel filters !!!

No uncommon with today's fuel. Several now required additives are needed.

Southeast Nebraska | Special note that the glass filters or metal square filters from John Deere or for a Deere will fit in the filter holder on a 3208 BUT they are not the right filter. The glass one is a water seperator and prestrainer in a sense. The JD filters will actually just pass fuel through unfiltered. Had similar issues on a truck during harvest. Found suction line from tank was clogged with lady bugs. Found glass rectangular filter was a Deere type. Found that there was corrosion where the rubber seals on the rectangular glass filter contact the aluminum housing. Got correct filter from CAT, polished filter rubber seal mating areas with scotch brite, blew lady bugs out of the lines, drained water and crud out of fuel tank, and no problems since.

wis south border | My White did that and I had to prime it all the time. I pulled the pump and had a new gasket and seal kit put in it. It was expensive at 800 dollars but it solved the problem.
