So. IL
Have a Cat 3208 that has a puddle of fuel in the valley, is there any common spots where it could be leaking? We looked at all the lines and could not find anything, thinking its from the pump? thanks

Try tightening the lines? Might not look loose.

Make sure air bleed "T" valve used when changing filters, is closed. Should have a line attached that takes the fuel away when you open it, could be open a little with the line missing. Just a thought.

Is everything on "top" that you can see, look dry?

Are you sure it is fuel and not oil?

Honestly, you will probably have to steam clean or wash out that "valley area" as best you can and blow if off/out; then run it and find where you first see fuel starting to come out.(up front, under pump, or towards rear back by governor housing).

one way to help detect leaks is to thoroughly clean and dry with ether and then spray with a white dry deodorant powder and watch to see where dampness occurs---good luck.

Those engines originally have small drain hoses to keep any fuel that leaks out the valley. If yours are bad or gone, then it might be the injection pump input seal. There are actually two seals and the drain is between them. This keeps the diesel out of the engine (and the engine from turning into scrap) if the inner one leaks. The pump must be removed to fix it.

West Central Alberta Coldest, wettest edge
I've had the seal on the throttle shaft leak, right into the valley, and very hard to see where it is coming from. It can be changed without removing the pump, just remove the governor housing, it sounds easy on paper.
