Subject: Heated floor question

Gettysburg, PA

So our house has a room between the kitchen and door to the garage that was, in the original build, a screened in porch with a wide sliding door entrance to the house. At some point this room was insulated, the door removed and now serves as a "mud room". It is a concrete slab with ceramic tile. IF I were to ever re-do the floor I would strongly consider putting radiant heat under new tile. But that isn't in the cards right now. I did a little internet searching for heated padding that I maybe could put under the 5 x 7 throw rug in that room. I didn't find many options in my searching and what I found wasn't cheap (north of 250$), but, not outrageous either. But, I guess what I really don't know is if spending the money on this type of option would result in a lower heating bill for the house. Do you think heating this 8 x 12 concrete slab will supply heat to the rest of the house? Anyone do this? Where/what did you buy?
